Recap

Worcester City 1- Layton

Westfields 2 – Barnes, S. Davies

Westfields gained quick revenge over Worcester City last night with an exciting 2-1 away win at Claines Lane in the Hellenic League Premier Division only 3 days after Worcester City had pipped Westfields by the same score in the FA Cup on Saturday at allpay.park.

Worcester opened the scoring on the stroke of half time when Kirk Layton was left unmarked at the far post to tap home a corner to give Worcester City a 1-0 lead at the break .

However, after the restart Westfields were level within 3 minutes of the second half when Ollie Barnes snapped up the equaliser with a poachers goal to put the sides level. Westfields were then reduced to 10 men when substitute Adam Wakely was sent off for an off the ball incident .

Westfields were reduced to 10 men for the last half hour but teenage keeper Jack Oxenhall in the Westfields Goal produced a string of brilliant saves coupled with superb defensive work by Kane Kahaki to keep Worcester City at bay and deep into injury time Steve Davies clipped home a superb goal to earn Westfields the lead .

Referee Jamie West then played 10 minutes added time and Westfields defended superbly to hold out and register a 2-1 away win over Worcester City and sweet revenge for their  FA Cup defeat on Saturday.

This Saturday Westfields travel to Nuneaton Griff in the FA Vase then on Bank Holiday Monday Westfields return to allpay.park with a Bank Holiday local derby with Hereford Lads Club Kick off 3pm at Home.
