Sporting Club Inkberrow 1 – Skelton

Westfields 6 match unbeaten run came to an end last night in a highly charged 1-0 home defeat to visiting Sporting Inkberrow who out fought Westfields to record a slender 1-0 defeat at allpay.park.

Westfields handed their visitors the win when a poor freekick by skipper Brandon Jennings was intercepted and the visitors broke away and the right wing cross was neatly put away by the Sporting Inkberrow striker to give them a gift 1-0 interval lead in the 44th minute.

Prior to that teenager Westfields Keeper Shay Sterry had dealt confidently with the visitors attacks.

After the break Westfields tried to draw level and Sporting Inkberrow defended superbly and Westfields wasted good corner opportunities as as they tried to get back in the game. The visitors were reduced to 9 men as two players received marching orders for 2 yellow card offences but still the rugged visitors defence stood firm for a slender 1-0 away win as Westfields were brought back down to earth following their mammoth 11-0 win on Saturday at Brimscombe and Thrupp.
