Slimbridge 1 – Dennis

Westfields suffered a narrow 1-0 home defeat to visiting Slimbridge who completed an Hellenic League Premier Division Double have won 3-2 on their own ground earlier in the season.

Westfields had the better of the first half but did not take their chances when Isaac Richards, Dan Stoneman and Oli Barnes had half chances.

Slimbridge had one good chance but Westfields keeper Keiron Blackburn produced a fine save at the foot of the post.

After the break Slimbridge broke the deadlock in the 65th minute when Nathan Dennis scored with a free header from a right wing free kick for what was the match winning goal.

Westfields then threw men forward and Ole Barnes headed over the bar when well placed then debutant Brandon Jennings shot wide when he had a chance on the edge of the box.

Westfields pushed for the equaliser and Zac Powell and Dan Stoneman both had efforts blocked as the big Slimbridge defence stood firm and held out for a 1-0 win and a league double.

On Saturday Westfields travel to Pershore Town for another Hellenic League Premier Division game kick off 3pm
