Westfields were robbed of a well deserved point on Saturday when promotion contenders Royal Wootton Bassett Town scored a 90th minute winner to secure the 3 points from an entertaining end to end Hellenic League Premier Division game at allpay.park.

Westfields new look team had battled superbly from start to finished and it was a bitter pill to swallow when the visitors scored the late winner.

Westfields  had taken an 18th minute lead when Oli Barnes put the home side ahead from the penalty spot after he had been brought down.

However the lead was short lived when from a corner kick Westfields saw an Alan Griffin header come back off the cross bar  and Tommy Aldridge slammed home the rebound in a goalmouth scramble for the Royal Wootton Bassett Town equaliser.

Westfields hit back and Archie Muirhead and Oli Barnes both went close before the interval to restore the Westfields lead.

After the break Westfields worked hard but defences were on top at  both ends and the two teams could not break each other down as it looked like a 1-1 Draw was on the cards until Brad Phillips conceded a free kick outside the box and Alan Griffin saw his last minute effort creep in at the far post giving them a last minute 2-1 victory over a hard working Westfields side.

Next Saturday Westfields are home to Slimbridge at allpay Park Kick off 3pm.
