WESTFIELDS BEATEN AT HOME
Westfields run of disappointing results continued when Pershore Town were the latest side to win at Allpay Park with 2-1 victory.
It was a disappointing end to a week in which Westfields have lost 3 matches at Allpay Park, but it was a game that Westfields should have comfortably secured something from the game as they dominated the early stages and should have taken the lead on several occasions, as in the first 20 minutes Teddy Mee; Dan Stoneman; and Archie Muirhead all had great opportunities to open the scoring.
However, it was Archie Muirhead who dead break the deadlock in the 20th minute with a header, but the visitors came storming back and took a 2-1 interval lead when Sam Clark equalised in the 38th minute and then right on half-time Aidan Clark put Pershore Town ahead 2-1 after a good attacking play down the left-hand side.
In the second period, Westfields again enjoyed good periods of play but Eddie Cox in the Pershore goal performed heroics, saving well from Dan Stoneman and Teddy Mee; whilst at the other end Westfields keeper, Jack Oxenham also produced good saves with his legs to prevent Pershore Town increasing the lead.
Westfields threw everything at Pershore Town in the final stages, but Pershore Town held firm with a dominant defensive display, and despite Westfields bringing on substitutes, Adam Wakely, Harrison Summers and Harry Pitman, they could not force home a deserved equaliser.
Westfields now have to pick themselves up for Saturday’s home FA Vase Tie, when they meet Worcester Raiders at Allpay park, kick off 3:00pm.
