WESTFIELDS BOW OUT OF FA VASE

Westfields surprisingly lost 1-0 at home in the First Round Proper of the FA Vase on Saturday when they were beaten 1-0 by visiting Ollerton Town at allpay.park.

Westfields could not find the net against the visiting North East Counties League Division One side from Nottinghamshire and fell to a 42^nd minute penalty which proved the match winner.

Westfields, who were Herefordshire’s sole representative at this stage of the competition, had earlier beaten Shawbury and Worcester Raiders in the preliminary rounds. However on Saturday Westfields could not find their form and the visitors recorded a surprise victory with a match winning penalty just before the break.

Westfields’ best chance came earlier when Jack Gittoes got through on goal but was pulled down by the Ollerton keeper and the free kick came to nothing.

Westfields will look to get back on form with an away trip to Royal Wootton Bassett on Saturday.
