Westfields recorded a back to back Hellenic League Premier Division League win when they beat visiting Lydney Town 3-0 at allpay.park to follow their 3-2 away win last week at Pershore Town.

Westfields looked sharp and played good open attacking football against Lydney Town who had beaten Westfields at their ground earlier in the season.

Westfields took just 17 minutes to open the scoring when dangerman Dan Stoneman got free to beat the advancing Lydney keeper and score with a lob shot.

Lydney came back in the game and Keiron Blackburn in the Westfields goal twice made good saves to prevent a visitor equaliser.

Westfields increased their lead in the 35th minute when Stoneman put over a right wing cross and leading goalscorer Oli Barnes rose to powerfully head home at the far post to put Westfields 2-0 ahead at the break.

After the interval Lydney Town came back into the game and Blackburn saved well at the foot of the post before Westfields should have increased the lead when Archie Muirhead went through on goal but with only the visitors keeper to beat he chipped his shot wide of the far post.

Westfields however defended well and Joel Edwards got in several important headed clearances before Westfields made the points safe with a third goal when in the 86th minute Oli Barnes went through on goal and his shot was handled and Westfields leading goalscorer Barnes made no mistake from the spot to give Westfields a 3-0 home win and 3 valuable points.

Westfields bring the curtain down on their home league fixtures next Saturday when they play Highworth Town at allpay.park kick off 3pm to end their home league fixtures for the season.
