Recap

Westfields 1 – Stoneman

Highworth Town 0

Westfields continued their recent run of improved form which has seen just one defeat in the last 6 Hellenic League Games with a 1-0 home victory over playoff chasing Highworth Town.

Westfields brought the curtain down on their final home game of the season in style with a hardworking 1-0 victory.

The all important goal was a terrific 20th minute free kick by Dan Stoneman and this proved to be the match winner although Westfields had a few good opportunities in the second half to extend their lead when Adam Wakely and Teddy Mee had good chances.

Highworth who were unbeaten in their last 6 games came back at Westfields in search of an equaliser but found Westfields keeper Keiron Blackburn in top form as Westfields recorded their 3rd League win in the last 4 outings.

After the game Westfields Chairman Chris Williams presented teenage defender Cameron Davies with the Westfields supporters Player of the Year award for the season.

Another award was presented to Paul Hurrell the Westfields defender who is retiring from the game due to injury and to join the Police Force.

Westfields now finish the season with 2 away games when they travel to Longlevens on Tuesday and visit Highworth Town for the return Hellenic League Premier Division game in search of a league double to complete the season.
