Westfields 2 – Barnes, MacDonald
Hereford Lads Club 0
Westfields rattled up their Third Hellenic League win of the season with a hard fought 2-0 home win over neighbours Hereford Lads Club On Bank Holiday Monday in front of a 333 crowd.
Westfields worked hard to achieve their win over a hard working Hereford Lads Club team, who welcomed back manager Dan Moon after a lengthy touch line ban. After a goalless first half when Westfields had the best chances when both Dan Stoneman and Harrison Summers had chances but failed to hit the target.
After the break Westfields made an immediate impact when skipper Steve Davies laid on a chance for Ollie Barnes to score at the far post within a minute of the restart.
Westfields began to get on top and Stoneman and Summers were causing problems for the visitors defence but it was Jack Oxenham in the Westfields goal who saved brilliantly from point blank range to prevent an equaliser on the hour .
Westfields then lost Kane Kahaki to a red card for comments made but the 10 man Westfields side battled and increased their lead in the 80th minute when good work by Steve Davies and Archie Muirhead resulted in an opportunity for Matt MacDonald and he crashed the ball home from 8 yards to give Westfields a 2-0 lead .
Westfields now produced some good attacking soccer and Kyle Cassell had a header saved then Westfields ran down the clock with good possession to beat their neighbours and move up to 6th in the league table On Saturday Westfields are at home to Tuffley Rovers as they bid to move into a play off position with another home win at Allpay.park kick off 3pm
