Westfields 3 – Phillips, Griffiths, Barnes

Westfields and visiting Brimscombe and Thrupp served up a Christmas cracker in the Hellenic League Premier Division at Allpay Park On Saturday when they shared a 6 goal thriller as the Gloucestershire visitors clawed their way back into the game with an injury time equaliser.

The two sides had gone in 1-1 at the break after Bradley Phillips had put Westfields 1-0 ahead in the 12th minute. Archie Muirhead should have headed Westfields 2-0 ahead but he headed over the visitors bar from 6 yards out.

Brimscombe equalised on the stroke of half time with a 25 yard strike from Josh Jones.

After the break Sam Griffiths put Westfields 2-1 ahead then Westfields leading goal scorer Oli Barnes rifled home a cracker from the edge of the box to put Westfields 3-1 ahead with 61 minutes on the clock.

However, Brimscombe came storming back and Liam Harper scored a 2nd visitors goal to set up a Grandstand finish as the Ref played 8 minutes additional time and the equaliser came in the dying moments when Jack Hughes scored a dramatic equaliser for the visitors to secure a point from a 3-3 Draw.

Westfields visit Hereford Lads Club Boxing Day and next Saturday travel to 2nd place Corsham Town
