WESTFIELDS END THEIR PRE-SEASON IN IMPRESSIVE STYLE

JOE DAVIS HAT-TRICK OF HEADERS

Westfields ended their pre-season programme with an impressive 4-2 win over Bewdley Town at allpay.park on Tuesday night when new central defender Joe Davis continued his impressive pre-season form with a hat-trick of headers to lead Westfields to a good win over the Midland Football League visitors.

Davis, who joined Westfields from neighbours Wellington, opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a powerful header at the near post from a corner kick and then in the 38^th minute he was on the end of another cross to put Westfields into a commanding 2-0 lead.

Bewdley tried to keep in touch with the game but found the Westfields defence in strong form, particularly Ian Havard who cut out a number of menacing crosses.

After the break Westfields increased their lead when Richard Greaves got on the end of a through ball from Harrison Iddles and slotted coolly home to put Westfields 3-0 ahead and then Davis completed his hat-trick with a powerful header from a left wing corner to make it 4-0.

The visitors then came back into the game after Westfields had made a number of substitutions and scored 2 late goals in a very respectable and hard-working pre-season friendly.

Westfields now look forward to their opening Hellenic League Premier Division game when they entertain local rivals Malvern Town at allpay.park on Tuesday next, 3^rd August, kick-off 7.45pm.
