Wellington win 5-3 on penalties

Westfields bow out of HFA Senior County Challenge Cup

Record County Senior Cup Winners Westfields were beaten on a penalty shoot out at Wellington last night when after a 1-1 Draw at 90 minutes Wellington held their nerve to score 5 clinical penalties to beat Westfields 5-3 in the shoot out after the Wellingtion keeper had saved Westfields 3rd penalty kick.

Earlier Wellington had gone ahead on the half hour when they open the scoring after a penalty had been saved by Jack Oxenham in the Westfields goal but Wellington striker Bunn followed up to put the villagers ahead.

Westfields had chances to draw level before the break but Sam Griffiths and Justin Hall both saw chances go high or wide of the target.

After the break Westfields went all out for the equaliser and Archie Muirhead and Harrison Summers went close before Westfields deservedly drew level when Summers laid on a superb pass for Sam Griffiths to sweep home the Westfields equaliser.

However Westfields went out on the resultant penalty shoot out 5-3.
