Thornbury Town 1 – Brock

Westfields recent improvement continued under manager Scott Russell when they travelled to Thornbury Town to record a 1-1 Away Draw in the Hellenic League Premier Division On Saturday.

On a heavy pitch Westfields enjoyed the better of the early stages and both Archie Muirhead and Harrison Summers had efforts before Westfields keeper Zeke Vivian saved on the goal line as Thornbury  hit back.

After a goalless first half Thornbury broke the deadlock from the penalty spot when Harrison Summers was penalised for a foul and Jim Brock beat Vivian to put Thornbury 1-0 ahead. Westfields were then reduced to 10 men when Harrison Summers was dismissed for a second yellow card but the 10 man Westfields side fought harder and deservedly drew level when man of the match Kane Kahaki headed home a Muirhead corner to put the sides level.

In a Grandstand finish both sides went all out for a winner in the last 10 minutes but with Cam Davies outstanding in the centre of the Westfields defence the home side could not beat a hard working 10 man Westfields team.

Next Saturday 16th December Westfields will be at home at allpay.park to Wantage Town Kick off 3pm in a bid to gain revenge for the 3-1 defeat Westfields suffered at Wantage earlier in the season.
