Westfields Gain Fine Away Win
Westfields bounced back from their 2-2 Away draw at Lydney Town on Boxing Day to record a fine 3-1 away win at 3rd place Shrivenham Town on Saturday .
Westfields had to work hard for the 3 points as the home side were an organised team and had the ball in the Westfields net in the opening minute only to have the goal disallowed for off side.
Both sides had first half opportunities and Aidan Thomas had a great chance for Westfields but blazed his shot high over the bar when he got on the end of a Dan Stoneman cross.
However with the half time whistle looming Westfields scored twice just before the break when man of the match Kane Khaki side footed home from twenty yards after Shrivenham had only partially cleared a Westfields Corner .
Then just on the half time whistle Cameron Peters set up a chance for Richard Greaves who took his chance well to give Westfields a 2-0 lead at the interval.
After the break Shrivenham came more into the game and had a great chance to pull back a goal when Westfields keeper Joe Gorman was penalised for a foul on the home striker but redeemed himself with a great save from the penalty .
Westfields increased their lead when Aidan Thomas put over a low cross and Richard Greaves raced in to put Westfields 3-0 ahead with a firm tap in .
However Shrivenham came storming back into the game and pulled a goal back and hen put Westfields under pressure but Ryan Green And Kahaki were dominant at the heart of the visitors defence to ensure 3 valuable points.
Westfields return to allpay park on Saturday with a home game v Royal Wotton Bassett kick off 3pm in an effort to maintain their lead at the top of the Hellenic League Premier Division .
