Royal Wootton Bassett Town 3 – Presley 2, Case

Westfields were well beaten in their away trip to high riding Royal Wootton Bassett Town on Saturday afternoon when, without the suspended trio of Dan Stoneman, Cawley Cox and Cam Davies, they failed to break down a well organised and commanding Royal Wootton Bassett Town team who now look a good bet as a promotion contender following their comfortable 3-0 home win over a Westfields team that also had striker Ben Brooks sent off  late in the game.

The Westfields side played some neat attractive football early on and Brandon Jennings had a powerful header cleared off the Bassett goal line.

The home side hit back to take the lead in the 13th minute when Alfi Presley got free on the left and skipped a few challenges before his shot beat Keiron Blackburn at the near post.

The Wiltshire side looked dangerous on the break and increased their lead in the 37th minute when Olly Case headed home powerfully at the far post to give Wootton Bassett a 2-0 interval lead.

After the break the home side quickly increased their lead when Alfi Presley seized on a hesitant Westfields defensive lapse and went through to beat Blackburn with a crisp low drive into the net to put the title chasers into a commanding 3-0 lead.

Westfields came back and Harrison Summers worked hard up front but Westfields had Blackburn to thank when he made 2 good saves from point blank range as Wootton Bassett exploited mistakes in the Westfields rear guard.

Oli Barnes came on as a late sub for Westfields but then late in the game Ben Brooks received a red card as Westfields were reduced to 10 men as Wootton Bassett finished very strong.

Westfields are at home next Saturday to Fairford Town Kick off 3pm.
