Roman Glass St George 2 – Sarson 2

Westfields 4 – Barnes, Stoneman, Richards, Muirhead

Westfields travelled to Bristol on Saturday and produced a superb hardworking team display to upset Playoff team Roman Glass St George with a tremendous 4-2 away win and record their first Hellenic league double of the season.

Westfields had beaten the promotion chasing Bristol side 3-2 at allpay.park before Christmas and the new look Westfields side again proved too strong for the 3rd place Bristol side.

After a very even opening half hour Westfields stepped up the pressure just before the break when teenage keeper Finlay Croft found winger Dan Stoneman on the wing, Stoneman cut a dash down the flank and put over a superb cross and leading goal scorer Oli Barnes swept the ball home from 12 yards to give Westfields a 1-0 interval lead.

Westfields then got off to a dream start in the second half when straight from the restart Dan Stoneman scored a spectacular volley from 30 yards out to put Westfields 2-0 ahead.

However, Roman Glass St George came storming back and pulled a goal back from the penalty spot when Westfields keeper Finlay Croft was adjudged to have brought down Rhys Sarson and the Roman Glass striker got up to smash home the penalty and then on the hour Sarson headed home a right wing cross to put the sides level at 2-2.

Westfields however, regained the lead in the 77th minute when Cam Davies headed down a cross into the path of Isaac Richards who made no mistake from 10 yards to put Westfields 3-2 ahead.

Westfields were stretching the home defence and made the points safe when full back Jac Evans put Archie Muirhead free on the left flank and he brilliantly raced forward and chipped the Roman Glass keeper to put Westfields 4-2 ahead.

Roman Glass still came back at Westfields but Cam Davies And skipper Kane Kahaki were  in brilliant form in the Westfields defence.

Westfields travel again on Saturday to face another play off team Royal Wootton Bassett Town Kick off 3pm
