Westfields 1 – Barnes

Westfields leading goalscoring striker Ollie Barnes scored a headed goal to put Westfields into the next round of the FA Vase when he headed home a Matt MacDonald corner in the 37th minute to give Westfields a 1-0 away victory at Nuneaton Griff and earn a home tie with Worcester Raiders on 23rd September.

Westfields and Nuneaton both ended the game with 10 men after the home side had a central defender sent off then deep into stoppage time Westfields lost Kane Kahaki with a red card Earlier in the second half Jack Oxenham in the Westfields goal had brilliantly turned a curling shot onto the bar to save a certain Nuneaton equaliser .

Westfields should have increased their lead late in the second half when Adam Wakely went through but he shot wide of the far post .

Westfields then survived several late Nuneaton free kicks and corners as the home side tried to draw level but Westfields did well to defend their 1-0 advantage for a place in the next round of the FA Vase Westfields entertain Hereford Lads Club in the Hellenic Premier Division On Bank Holiday Monday Kick off 3pm .

On Saturday Westfields are at home again when they entertain Gloucestershire side Tuffley Rovers Kick off 3pm at Allpay.park in a Hellenic Premier Division game
