Recap

Hereford Pegasus 1 – Cox

Westfields 1 – Barnes (pen)

Westfields continued their impressive form with a 1-1 Away draw at Hereford Pegasus on Friday night to maintain their recent improved form under manager  Scott Russell, when following 3 consecutive Hellenic League wins Westfields had to be content with a useful Away point in the highly charged local Derby.

Hereford Pegasus with 8 former Westfields players in their starting line up had to withstand a late flurry from Westfields who hit the crossbar and goalpost in the final 10 minutes as they looked to extend their winning sequence.

Both sides started brightly but who it was Westfields who broke the deadlock in the 16th minute when pacey winger Harrison Summers was tripped in the Peggy penalty area and Oli Barnes sent Matt Gwynne in the Pegasus goal the wrong way to put Westfields 1-0 from the spot.

Pegasus came back and Carlos Moreira twice hit his shots high and wide before Pegasus drew level in stoppage time in the first half when Westfields failed to clear the ball from a crowded goalmouth and former Westfields striker Cawley Cox pounced to fire home the equaliser.

After the break the game swung from end to end and Matt Gwynne was the busier of the 2 keepers as defences were on top but Gwynne was beaten in the 83 minute when Kane Kahaki saw his shot hit the Pegasus post then 5 minutes later Mason Godsall rattled the Pegasus cross bar from 20yards.

Gwynne then saved well in the dying minutes when Luke Firkin let fly from the edge of the box and Gwynne reacted well with a fine save as both sides had to settle for a point a piece.
