FC Bristol 1 – Davis

Westfields 1 – S Muirhead

Westfields win 5-3 on penalties

Westfields overcame a tricky away Hellenic League Cup Tie away at FC Bristol when after drawing 1-1 in 90 minutes of play the Westfields side showed their nerve to win 5-3 in the penalty shoot out to go through to the next round in Bristol.

Debut keeper Archie Burford kept Westfields in the game early on with smart saves before Westfields had a chance to open the scoring midway through the first half when Luke Firkin was brought down but Oli Barnes saw his penalty crash against the Bristol post and bounce clear.

FC Bristol eventually broke the deadlock just before half time when after Burford had produced a double save the ball landed perfectly for Rick Davies to crash home from close range to give FC Bristol 1-0 interval lead.

After the break Westfields took up the running and Barnes and Kyle Cassell went close before Manager Scott Russell sent on sub Sam Muirhead and the youngster equalised in the 84th minute to send the game into a penalty shoot out.

Burford saved the first FC Bristol penalty and Westfields went on to score all 5 of their penalties to go through to the next round 5-3 on penalties, after another hard working performance
