Westfields 3 – Stoneman 2, Summers

Westfields travelled to high flying Fairford Town last night and competed in a 7 goal thriller but it was the home side who ran out 4-3 winners in a highly contested game in which Westfields were hit by a Jamal Lawrence first half hat trick when he proved too quick for the Westfields defence and outpaced them on several occasions.

Westfields battled hard in the appalling conditions but Lawrence gave Fairford a 15th minute lead beating Blackburn from 12 yards.

Dan Stoneman put Westfields level with a cracking drive on 28 minutes then Fairford regained their lead when Lawrence outpaced the Westfields defence to go past Blackburn to make it 2-1 before Blackburn made a mistake with a long throw in by Fairford and Lawrence had a simple chance for his hat trick and a 3-1 lead for Fairford at the break.

Westfields came out for the second half and Harrison Summers scored in their first attack and Westfields enjoyed a good period but failed to draw level as Isaac Richards missed from close rang before Fairford Substitute Joe Shutt put the play off team 4-2 ahead in the 85 minute.

Westfields still came back well in an end to end game and Dan Stoneman blasted in a fine left foot shot to make it 4-3 to Fairford and signalled a late flurry of attacks but Westfields could not muster a late equaliser .
