Fairford Town 2  – Shutt, Jenner

Westfields 0

Westfields’ recent poor league form continued when they were beaten 2-0 Away at Fairford Town on Saturday when despite dominating the game for long periods Westfields could not find the net and conceded goals in the 2nd minute and 92nd minute to see them drop out of the top 4 and down to 6th in the table.

Despite falling behind to a 2nd minute thunderbolt from diminutive winger Joe Shutt who put the home side ahead, Westfields had ample first-half chances through Joel Owusu who twice wasted opportunities and then Kyle Cassell had a chance to put Westfields level but his shot went wide, then just before the break Dan Stoneman had a great chance but his shot sailed wide.

After the break it looked a question of time before Westfields scored but Ben Mitchell in the Fairford Goal made two superb saves.

Westfields then brought on subs Archie Muirhead and Josh Hunt and dominated the later stages but despite crosses coming into the penalty box from  Muirhead, Westfields could not apply the finishing touch for the deserved equaliser .

Then in the last minute Westfields forced a corner and pushed men forward but Fairford cleared the ball upfield and scored on the counter attack when Fin Jenner beat Ian Harvard with a cracking shot off the post to give the home side 3 valuable points from a 2-0 home win that Westfields will wonder how they did not get something from the game.

Next Saturday Westfields return to allpay.park for a home match against visitors Worcester Raiders who are still in 3rd place in the table, kick off 3pm.
