Recap

Corsham Town 1 – Cooper

Westfields 0

Westfields travelled to league leaders Corsham Town on Saturday and gave a hardworking non stop performance but were beaten 1-0 despite doing enough to have deserved a point when they were refused appeals for a last minute penalty.

After a goalless first half when Westfields keeper Zeke Vivian gave a superb display to keep  Corsham at bay with a string of fine saves as Westfields frustrated the league leaders with a dominant defensive display.
Westfields did have a good effort on goal when the Corsham keeper did well to hold onto a long range effort from Adam Wakely.

After the break Corsham Town took the lead in the  50th minute when home skipper Mark Cooper headed home a corner to break the deadlock.

Zeke Vivian in the Westfields Goal then made 2 brilliant saves to prevent Corsham increasing their lead before Westfields got back in the game with Summers and Muirhead causing problems on the flanks then in the 90th minute Summers put in a menacing cross which the Corsham defence failed to clear and as Adam Wakely prepared to score the equaliser his footing was lost by a challenge but referee Keith Simpson waived away the Westfields appeals and Corsham held firm to record a narrow 1-0 win and maintain their position of league leaders with a league double over Westfields having won 3-0 at Westfields earlier in the season.

Next Saturday Westfields are at home to Highworth Town at allpay.park kick off 3pm in a bid to get back to winning ways
