MATCH REPORT 📝 | Fields progress in the FA Cup thanks to Dan Stoneman’s second half strike against Daventry

Westfields FC progressed into the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup, thanks to a 1-0 victory at home to Daventry Town on Saturday.

The victory was secured by Dan Stoneman’s second half strike.

The visitors had the better of the first half, with Kieron Blackburn forced into a couple of smart saves to keep the scores goalless.

Fields looked sharper in the second half, with some good attacking play at times, but it did look like it was going to head to a replay, after Mason Godsall’s effort was well saved, and Ben Brooks headed wide from a Dan Stoneman cross.

However, Fields broke the deadlock with just minutes left on the clock. Cam Davies played a long forward ball to Dan Stoneman, who cut inside of the full back and his effort across goal went in at the far post to send Allpay Park into raptures.

Fields will find out their opponents in the Preliminary Round on Tuesday evening, when a replay between Evesham United and Newcastle Town takes place, following a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Next up for Fields is a return to Hellenic League Premier Division action with a home fixture against Pershore Town on Tuesday evening at Allpay Park. 7.45pm kick off.
