We caught up with Fields 1st team goalkeeper, Jack Oxenham ahead of Fridayโs Uhlsport Hellenic Premier League game against Slimbridge AFC.
We asked Jack a few questions and got a little bit of an insider on what life is like behind the doors at AllPay Parkโฆ.
How do you think Fields have started this campaign?
JO-โI think we have gotten off to a good start as we have had a really tough first few fixtures against some strong teams so we are all happy with our start to the league and itโs a good foundation to build off.โ
Youโve had a great start to the season Jack, what are your personal aims for this season?
JO-โObviously the goal is to keep as many clean sheets as possible as Iโve had 3 on the bounce now and would love to keep as many as possible this season. But I would say the main goal for me is as Iโm still young is to just keep learning as much as possible & improving every week & the boys and the management have been class with that with their experience helping me to improve so much.โ
What attracted you to join the club this summer?
JO-โDefinitely the main thing was how professional and ambitious the club is to always look to improve in every area. It was a new experience for me as I have never moved clubs before but I have loved every minute of it and the challenge that comes with that. The standard of every game & every training session is so high and you can tell from the management to the players how ambitious we are to reach the goals we have set for ourselves this year & I knew it was the right stage in my career for the next step & really kick on this year.โ
How have you found the group of players and supporters since joining?
JO-โIt was of course a new experience for me at first being new and not knowing anyone but all the lads have been class and welcoming which obviously was so good, allowing me to just enjoy my football here a lot. The support we get is class and creates a good atmosphere that we all appreciate so much and thank them for travelling down to watch us it means a lot to everyone at the club.โ
Whoโs the best and worst dressed at the club?
JO-โBest dressed is Harry Pitman, worst has to be Steve Davies!!โ
Whoโs the changing room DJ? Do you rate their choice of music?
JO-โPits is the DJ and to be fair heโs got some strong tunes when he turns up on time!โ
Who was your football idol growing up?
โManuel Neuerโ
Favourite footballing memory so far?
JO-โMan of the match away at Worcester Cityโ
Any match day superstitions?
JO-โAlways have the same pre match meal which is a sausage roll and a cup of tea. I also always put my left boot on firstโ
Slimbridge away up next in the league, how confident are you that the squad can go there & get the 3 points?
JO-โWe always feel confident going into any game we play especially with the talent in the squad. We have now had 4 wins on the bounce with 3 clean sheets in a row so we need to make sure that keeps going & stay consistent throughout the seasonโ
