Westfields 2 – Brooks, Hancocks

Westfields followed on from Saturday’s FA cup victory over Daventry Town with a fine 2-0 home win over visiting Pershore Town in their opening Home Hellenic League Premier Division game last night

Both teams attacked from the start and both keepers were kept busy in an end to end opening first half which ended goalless.

However after the break Westfields broke the deadlock when in the 50th minute a free flowing move ended with the ball landing at the feet of Ben Brooks and he finished with a low shot from 10 yards to put Westfields ahead.

Westfields had stepped up their game against a strong Pershore Town team and in the 65th minute increased their lead with a fine goal when James Hancock’s sent a defender and keeper the wrong way having received a cross form Dan Stoneman to put Westfields into a commanding lead.

Pershore came back strong and Westfields defended superbly within the Westfields goalkeeper Keiron Blackburn sound and a defence well marshalled by skipper Brandon Jennings .
