Recap

Westfields 3 – Cox 3

Malmesbury Victoria 0

Westfields recorded their 3rd Hellenic League Win in 4 outings when they beat visiting Malmesbury Victoria 3-0 at allpay.park aided by a hat trick from leading goalscorer Cawley Cox.

Man of the match Cox ran himself into a standstill with an impressive performance which included 2 penalties and a fine second half finish over newly promoted a Malmesbury Victoria.

In a scrappy first half Westfields took the lead just before the interval when central defender Cam Davies was fouled in the Visitors penalty area and Cawley Cox hammered Westfields ahead to give them a 1-0 interval lead.

After the break Westfields began to dictate play with wingers Stoneman and Muirhead causing problems down the flanks and in the 75th minute Muirhead was brought down in the Malmesbury penalty area and Westfields were awarded their 2nd penalty of the match and Cox duly slotted home his second goal of the game to put Westfields firmly in command.

Malmesbury briefly hit back and Keiron Blackburn dealt  with long range efforts before Cox grabbed his hat trick and put the result  beyond doubt, when in the 80th minute Cox took a through ball in his stride and out paced the visitors defence and beat Travis Wood in the Malmesbury goal with a cracking finish to put Westfields into a 3-0 unsaleable lead with his hat trick and 3 valuable points to move Westfields up to 9th in the table.

Westfields now face 2 away games with a trip to Worcester Raiders On Tuesday and on Saturday go to Brimscombe and Thrupp in a bid to extend their 4 match unbeaten run.
