Westfields 5 – Taylor, N.Davies, Brooks, Stoneman, Hillier

Lydney Town 0

Westfields completed an Hellenic League double over visiting Lydney Town when they hammered the Forresters 5-0 in an action packed encounter at Allpay.park on Saturday.

Westfields were in top form in front of their own supporters and celebrated the win with 5 different goal-scorers on a day when they played some fast flowing crisp football.

Westfields took an early lead when good wing play by Zac Powell laid on a chance for Owen Taylor and he made no mistake to put Westfields ahead.

Westfields soon increased their lead with the best goal of the game when man of the match Nathan Davies let fly from 20 yards and his fierce drive flew into the top corner of the net.

Lydney hit back and were awarded a penalty just before the break but missed the opportunity to pull back a goal when the spot kick cannoned off the crossbar.

The Lydney keeper was kept busy as Westfields went in 2-0 ahead at the break.

After the interval Lydney came more into the game and Shay Sterry in the Westfields goal saved bravely then Cam Davies made a last ditch tackle to prevent a certain Lydney goal.

However, Westfields increased their lead on the hour when Ben Brooks put away a penalty and soon after Dan Stoneman scored a 4th with a brilliant shot off the underside of the crossbar.

The flood gates opened as Westfields played some fast flowing football and substitute Ryan Hillier grabbed a 5th goal after Lydney keeper Rich Thomas had parried a fierce drive.

Westfields ran out comfortable winners and next Saturday go to Tuffley Rivers away in search of another League double.
