Recap

Westfields 2 – Stoneman, Hillier

Ludlow Town 1 – Jones

Westfields went through to the Quarter Final of the Hellenic League Floodlit Cup with a 2-1 home win over visiting Ludlow Town at allpay.park last night.

Westfields had to work hard to achieve their cup success and lost their Keeper Shay Sterry when he was injured in the 6th minute making a brave save at the feet of Ludlow striker Harry Jones.

Keiron Blackburn replacing Sterry was soon in action as Ludlow opened up well.

Westfields gradually got into their stride and took a 33rd minute lead through Dan Stoneman who let fly from 20 yards and his shot went into the net off the far post to give Westfields a 1-0 interval lead.

After the break Ludlow found Blackburn in good form in the Westfields goal and Westfields increased the lead in the 77th minute when a Ben Brookes crooks found Archie Muirhead at the far post and he laid the ball into the path of Ryan Hillier who swept the ball home to give Westfields a 2-0 lead.

Mason Godsall then let fly from 40 yards which the Ludlow Keeper did brilliantly to keep out.

With the clock running down Ludlow caused a few nervous minutes when Harry Jones scored a fine solo goal in the 88th minute but Westfields held out to go though with a narrow 2-1 home win.
