Westfields celebrated pre Christmas with a Hellenic League double with a quality 3-0 home win over visiting Corsham Town.

Westfields had won 3-0 at Corsham earlier in the season and Saturday’s result and display lifted them into 9th position and gave them confidence going into Boxing Days big local derby with neighbours Hereford Pegasus Kick off 12 Noon at allpay.park.

Westfields gave an all round hardworking team performance and led at the break courtesy of a fine opening goal from Zac Powell who unleashed a shot from the edge of the penalty area to put Westfields ahead on the half hour.

Earlier Kerion Blackburn had made a superb save to deny Corsham an early lead.

After the break Westfields doubled their lead within 3 minutes of the restart when leading goalscorer Cawley Cox raced through and held off 2 challenges to beat the visitors keeper with a low drive.

Then in the 52nd minute Westfields made it 3-0 with the best goal of the game when Sam Hunt put Dan Stoneman clear on the left flank and he raced past the Corsham fullback and put-over a pin point cross and Cawley Cox raced in to finish well with his second goal of the game and give Westfields a commanding lead.

Corsham tried hard to get back into the game but man of the match Cam Davies held the home defence together well and Blackburn saved well at the end to keep Westfields with a clean sheet and 3 valuable league points.
