Westfields 2 – Cox 2

Westfields threw away a valuable 3 points last night  when they allowed visiting Brimscombe and Thrupp to claw their way back into the game snatching a point from a 2-2 Hellenic League draw at allpay.park with last minute goals.

Westfields had led comfortably 2-0 through 2 fine Cawley Cox goals in the 60th And 70th minutes.

In the first half Westfields had rattled up some great opportunities to lead at half time but excellent goalkeeping by the visitors keeper coupled with some poor attempts on goal by the Westfields attack saw the sides go in goalless at the break.

After the interval Cox scored 2 fine solo goals to put Westfields into a commanding lead but then Brimscombe and Thrupp hit back as Westfields defended poorly after Cam Davies had been sent off for 2 yellow cards.

In the 89 minute Joe Stokes got on the end of a right wing cross to riffle home and give the visitors a big lift then in injury time the visitors got a dramatic equaliser when Kyle Witt was on the spot when Westfields failed to deal with a right wing cross and Westfields had to settle for a point when they had led comfortably with just minutes to go and paid dearly for being reduced to 10 men late in the second half.

Westfields now meet Thornbury Town at home on Saturday and are at home again next Tuesday when promotion hopefuls Highworth Town are the visitors at allpay.park .
