Recap

Westfields 2 – Brooks, Jennings

Alcester Town 0

Westfields went through to the Herefordshire County Senior Challenge Cup Final with an excellent 2-0 home win over HFA Premier League Leaders Alcester Town at allpay.park last night.

Westfields worked hard after Saturday’s disappointing away defeat at Malmesbury and will meet Worcester based team Kempsey in the final at Edgar Street on April 9th.

Westfields had to defend well in the first half and Keiron Blackburn in the home goal did well to keep the Warwickshire side at bay in the opening 45 minutes.

After the break Westfields opened the scoring when Dan Stoneman set up Ben Brooks who swept the ball home from 18 yards to give Westfields a great lift for the second half.

Alcester came back in search of an equaliser and Keiron Blackburn saved well at the foot of the post before Westfields increased their lead in the 68th minute when from a Dan Stoneman corner kick skipper Brandon Jennings was on hand to crash the ball home from 8 yards to put Westfields 2-0 ahead.

Westfields then played  with a lot of confidence and were unlucky not to increase their lead when Ryan Hillier and the lively Stoneman went close.

Westfields next home game is next Tuesday 18 March v Worcester Raiders 7-45pm at allpay .park in Hellenic Premier Division.
