AFC Kempesy win 12-11 on penalties

Westfields were beaten 12-11 on penalties after being held 0-0 by AFC Kempsey in the HFA County Senior Challenge Final at Edgar Street tonight.

Westfields had dominated the 90 minutes but did not take their chances while Jonty Scott in the Kempsey goal performed heroics and then in a second half of chances Westfields twice hit the cross bar and failed to get the goal they deserved to break the deadlock.

Westfields then in the penalty shoot out thought they had won the cup at 6-6 when Kerion Blackburn in the Westfields goal saved a spot kick only to be adjudged that he moved before the ball was kicked and the kick was retaken to give Kempsey a life line and they went on to win 12- 11 on penalties in a most nail biting penalty shoot out.

Westfields had so many chances in the 90 minutes to have wrapped up the game and then paid dearly in sudden death penalties.

Westfields bring the season down on the season on Tuesday at home to Worcester Raiders at allpay.park kick off 7-45pm.
