Recap

Tuffley Rovers 3 – Bevan, Alder, Barnes

Westfields 2 – Brooks 2

Westfields went down to their 9th league away defeat of the season when they were beaten 3-2 by hosts Tuffley Rovers.

Tuffley capitalised on individual mistakes and took full advantage of Westfields being reduced to 10 men when fullback Sam Hunt was sent off for a wreck less challenge.

Tuffley started well and dominated the early stages but Westfields gradually got back into the game and Cam Davies had a powerful header well saved by the Tuffley keeper, then Davies saw another header cleared off the Tuffley goal line.

Then in the 39th minute Tuffley took the lead as their striker raced through unchallenged to chip Keiron Blackburn to open the scoring.

Two minutes later Tuffley had doubled their lead when Westfields defender Drew Heffernan lost possession in defence and the home striker had an easy task to slot the ball home to give a Tuffley a 2-0 interval lead.

After the break Westfields got off to flyer when Ben Brooks headed home a Sam Hunt cross in only the 48th minute.

Hunt then blotted his copy book when he was red carded for a reckless challenge and from the free kick Tuffley got free on the right and when the cross came in former Westfields striker Oli Barnes raced in to fire a low shot past Blackburn to put Tuffley 3-1 ahead.

The 10 man Westfields side kept going and Dan Stoneman should have pulled a goal back but he wasted the chance when he blazed wide from 6yards out.

Westfields enjoyed their best period and in the 75 minute Ben Brookes pulled a goal back from the penalty spot to put the score 3-2 in favour of the Gloucester side.

Westfields introduced substitute Zac Powell in an effort to snatch an equaliser and despite an improved second half display Westfields could not find the deserved equaliser.and ran out with a 3-2 away defeat.

On Tuesday Westfields are at home to Fairford Town and on Saturday have a most attractive home game when Hellenic League leaders Hartpury University come to allpay.park at 3pm Kick off for a Hellenic Premier Division game.
