FIELDS WIN IN VASE

Westfields’ central defender and current Player of the Year, Joe Davies, scored in Westfields’ 1-0 away win at Shawbury in the FA Vase.

In an end-to-end game Westfields ran out 1-0 winners when Davies secured an 85^th minute goal when he joined the attack to stab over the line a left-wing corner that had not been cleared by the Shawbury defence and in a scramble Davies snatched the winner with just 5 minutes to go before a penalty shoot-out would have been required.

Earlier, both the Midland Football Alliance side, Shawbury, and Westfields had a number of chances but they went begging before Davies’ match-winner with just 5 minutes left on the clock to ensure Westfields went through to the Preliminary Round with an attractive away tie against Worcester Raiders on 24^th September.
