Westfields Slam Six in Christmas Cracker

Westfields made their shortest trip of the season just a goal kick away to neighbours Hereford Lads Club and hit them for Six in a superb display when the Westfields side completed a Hellenic League double over their city rivals.

Westfields who had a 1-0 home win over Lads Club at allpay.park in August hit their neighbours from start to finish with quick free flowing football and entertained the 460 Christmas crowd to a Christmas cracker.

Dan Stoneman tormented the Lads Club defence in a devastating first half when he burst past two defenders to lay on a perfect pass for teenager Harry Pitman to fire home from 15 yards. Then in the 23rd minute Stoneman again turned provider when his perfect cross was headed home by Josh Hunt .

Westfields were rampant now and Lads Club were soon 3-0 down when Matt MacDonald scored with a deft finish tucking away an Archer Muirhead cross .

Hereford Lads Club hit back and wasted 2 good opportunities when they failed to convert far post chances .

Then just before half time man of the match teenager Harry Pitman put an inch perfect ball through to Archie Muirhead who raced clear  to beat Steve Bell with a great finish and give Westfields a fine Half time lead .

After the break Hereford Lads club tried to get back in the game but found skipper Joel Edwards in fine form and it was Edwards who joined the attack to head home a right wing cross and put Westfields into a resounding 5-0 lead in the 65th minute.

Hereford Lads Club could not get into their stride as Westfields produced a non stop hard working performance.

Then In The 82nd minute substitute Jack Gittoes was sent sprawling in the penalty area and ex Lads Club player Adam Newbury stepped up to score the 6th Westfields goal from the Penalty to complete the rout.

Westfields maintained their 4th position in the Table and now meet Thornbury Town at allpay.park on Monday 2nd January kick off 3pm.
