WESTFIELDS LOSE SECOND CONSECUTIVE GAME

Westfields were beaten for the second consecutive game when they were beaten 2-0 away at Corsham Town on Saturday.

It was Westfields’ first visit to Corsham and after a very even opening 30 minutes when both goalkeepers were called into action, Brandon Mundy opened the scoring for the home side when he got on the end of a flick-on from a right-wing cross to beat Ian Havard with a fierce drive.

Westfields had earlier hit the crossbar with a Dan Stoneman shot and had gone close on a number of other occasions.

After the break again it was an evenly contested match but Westfields lost Matt McDonald when he committed a second yellow card offence and was sent off and they were reduced to 10 men which gave Corsham more space and the home side clinched the game when Mark Cooper finished from 8 yards to put Corsham 2-0 ahead.

Ian Havard then produced a series of fine saves to keep Westfields in the game and Josh Hunt had a great chance to pull a goal back but he headed straight at the keeper from 6 yards.

This was Westfields’ 5th defeat in the league of the season and they now need to beat another title-chasing side on Tuesday night when they host Cribbs at allpay.park, kick-off 7.45pm.

On Saturday Westfields go to Bradford Town in search of 3 points.
