Westfields were beaten on Saturday away at Cirencester Town when the hosts gained revenge for the 4-1 defeat they had suffered earlier in the season at Westfields.

In fact had it not been for the agility of Westfields teenage keeper Shay Sterry Westfields could have been beaten by a bigger margin.

Westfields who had won convincingly 5-1 against Highworth Town in mid week could not find that form to achieve back to back wins in a game where they could not break down a resolute Cirencester Town defence.

Westfields had a huge penalty appeal turned down in the first half when Cawley Cox was sent sprawling in the home penalty area after an impressive run then Dan Stoneman hit a speculative 20 yard shot which the home keeper gathered easily.

At the other end Cirencester rattled the Westfields upright then Sterry twice gathered deep crosses to avert the danger.

After the break the lively home side put Westfields under pressure and Shay Sterry produced 2 full length saves to keep Westfields in the game.

Westfields had failed to get behind the home defence but had one half chance when Owen Taylor headed wide from a Stoneman cross.

With a goalless draw looking on the cards Cirencester broke the deadlock when on loan striker Finley Bell raced through the Westfields defence to beat Sterry with a low drive to break the deadlock and score the match winner.

Westfields still had chances as they forced 4 late corners all of which were headed clear by the strong Cirencester Town defence.

Westfields now have 2 Christmas home fixtures with Corsham Town home on Saturday 3pm then the all Hereford Derby with Hereford Pegasus on Boxing Day Kick off 12 NOON.
