Bristol Manor Farm 3
Westfields 2 – o.g,, Greaves
WESTFIELDS LOSE AT BRISTOL
Westfields gave a good display at Southern League South & West Bristol Manor Farm last night but suffered a 3-2 defeat in an entertaining game from start to finish.
Westfields fell behind in the early stages when a mix-up in the Westfields defence allowed the home striker an easy tap-in at the far post. However, Westfields hit back in the awful windy conditions when a Billy Murphy corner-kick high into the Bristol Manor Farm penalty area was nudged over the line by a Bristol defender whilst trying to clear.
Westfields then had a number of chances to have increased their lead when good approach play saw one or two chances go across the box and Richard Greaves was only inches away from putting Westfields ahead from a Basit Umar cross.
However, the home side went 2-1 in front just before the interval when a superb through ball caught the Westfields defence square and the Bristol striker went through to score low past Stephen Sarkodie.
However, within minutes of the re-start Westfields drew level when Richard Greaves fired low into the corner of the net to put Westfields on level terms and set up an exciting second half.
Both sides had opportunities in the difficult windy conditions but Bristol Manor Farm scored the winner with just ten minutes to go when a clinical finish saw the home side win the match.
